We will begin this vacation in Casablanca and travel through the Sahara Desert, stopping at tourist attractions such as Rabat Hassan Tower, Oudaias, and Meknes. Enjoy traveling with knowledgeable guides, and bear in mind that all of our Sahara desert tours may be customized to meet your specific needs.
Morocco desert tour is organized by Toubkal Experience. We provide customized tours from Casablanca that begin at your hotel and include a stop in Rabat for lunch before continuing on to Fes. We make stops along the route at Meknes and Volubilis, where we disembark for guided excursions. Book an overnight stay in a small riad in Fes.
Relax over breakfast before embarking on a walking tour of the city’s highlights. Learn about Fes’s imperial past as you stop for pictures at famous structures such as the Fes Royal Palace. Explore the Christian and Jewish neighborhoods and meander through the Medina, a winding labyrinth of passageways punctuated by busy souks and shops. Take a lunch break and then enjoy some free time for the remainder of the day. Overnight in a traditional riad.
Depart from Fes via Ifrane, a winter ski resort built by the French in the 1930’s to resemble a Swiss village; continue through the cedar forest and see the monkeys; continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains and beautiful forests, passing through Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and begin your descent towards the Sahara Desert. You’ll stop for lunch halfway at the village of Midelt, which is famed for its fossils and rocks. We arrive in Merzouga. After a mint tea break, your guide and camels will transport you over the Erg Chebbi’s sand dunes, where you will experience the splendor of the sunset while riding a camel. After about an hour, you will arrive at the desert camp, where you will spend the night in a Berber tent. After supper, gaze at the stars and spend the night in a Berber Tent.
After breakfast, we’ll depart for Dades, stopping in Rissani, the first capital of the Alaouite dynasty, for a visit to some historical kasbahs and the famous market. From there, we’ll continue along the rugged Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, which rises like turreted sand castles along this ancient caravan trading route. The central area is one of Morocco’s most fascinating and romantic places, with lush rivers, valleys, and palmeries. We’ll go through Tinghir into the Ziz Valley and its tumbling canyons. We’ll stop for lunch and a stroll at Todgha Gorge before continuing on via Dades Valley, where we’ll stay for dinner and overnight.
Today we go to Ouarzazate, where we visit the kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas Studios film studios, Africa’s largest and most famous. We will also make a detour at the kasbah Ait Benhaddou and arrive in time for lunch. Here we can visit the famous kasbah, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been featured in films such as Gladiator, Babel, and Lawrence of Arabia. We then continue through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, on a road that ascends from the plains to 2260 meters above sea level, passing through Berber villages. We arrive in the afternoon in Marrakech and drop you off at your hotel/riad. We appreciate you choosing a private Casablanca tour with an established travel company; at the conclusion of your journey, we will drive you to your hotel or airport and our Sahara Morocco tour will conclude.
