ITINERARY FOR 2-DAY TOUBKAL EXPRESS TREK

We feel that vacation is the most essential aspect of your life, a chance to relax your body and mind after a long day at work. We organize all Toubkal trek activities to relieve tension and assist you achieve your goals by making your trek fun and memorable. It is our goal to make your adventure holiday in our nation stress-free, peaceful, and interesting.

DAY 1: MARRAKECH - IMLIL - TOUBKAL REFUGE VIA AREMD

We leave the city behind today and head south, towards the rugged peaks and tumbling valleys of the Toubkal Massif. As we cross the Haouz Plain, we pass through the little hamlet of Asni, from where our route begins to ascend towards the Massif's slopes. The valley of the Oued Rhirhaia spreads out into the distance below us, and little settlements cling to the slopes of the steep hills as we make our approach towards Imlil. We leave our car here and begin our trek in the Mizane Valley, first towards the town of Aremd and then towards the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, accompanied by our mountain guide.

Aremd, the valley's main settlement, is built on a moraine spur overlooking the valley bottom and offers a unique combination of traditional terraced farming, gites, and roadways that appear to be continuously gridlocked by goats and cattle. Continuing east and across the flood plain, we follow mule trails up into the steep rocky cliffs above the valley. After crossing the river, we arrive to the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which draws both tourists and pilgrims. The path continues to rise gradually from here, curving and zigzagging its way up to the snowline and the Toukbal Refuge (3206m), our overnight destination.

DAY 2: TREK TO SUMMIT JEBEL TOUBKAL(4165M) - RETURN TO IMLIL

We set out early this morning for the summit of Jebel Toukbal, Northern Africa's highest peak. Our path leads us up the south cirque, across the creek above the refuge, and then into one of the mountain's several scree fields, where we must negotiate a seemingly endless carpet of pebbles and rocks. We reach the plateau after cresting the ridge line, from whence it is a short walk to the top, and the views out across the surrounding area are stunning. There are unlimited views in every direction from here, from the Marrakech Plain to the High Atlas in the north to the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara in the south. We then retrace down the mountain and walk back towards Imlil , retracing our route. To return to Marrakech by car. End of our 2023 Toubkal Treks.
