ITINERARY FOR TOUBKAL TREK (4 DAYS)

The four-day Toubkal Ascent offers you more time and success. Trek to Jebl Toubkal, Northern Africa's highest summit. And it's not hard to see why. This trek up Toubkal is a fantastic trip. It is a non-technical ascent that does not require much mountaineering expertise. That said, adequate planning, physical fitness, and drive are required.

DAY 1:

Transfer from Marrakech to Agersioual, meet the crew (guide, cook, and muleteers), and head out on the first day for an acclimatization trek in the Ouirgane National Park. The landscape is softer here, with copper green soil and juniper trees. Overnight in a gite in Tizian, a Berber village. Approximately 4-5 hours of walking time.

DAY 2:

After breakfast, you'll climb out of the valley and make your way to the breathtaking Azzaden Valley. The vistas begin with a gushing mountain stream flanked by thick walnut forests heading up to Toubkal and her sister peaks at the Valley's top. Overnight at a village Gite. Walking time was around 7 hours.

DAY 3:

Today's hike out of the Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge comprises a pretty strenuous ascent past the Ighouliden waterfalls and across the 3,560m Aguelzim Mountain pass. Lunch will be served with breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountain Range. Overnight at 3,200m at the Toubkal Refuge (Niltner Hut), where you'll most likely share a bunk room with other hikers attempting Toubkal early the next morning. Walking time was around 7 hours.

DAY 4:

Early start for the trek to Toubkal (4,167m), from whence you'll enjoy great views of the Atlas Range and the Sahara Desert if the clouds cooperate, then a lengthy journey down down via the refuge and the well-worn trail back to Imlil. This is a rather long day, covering 900m up and nearly 2,500m back down to Imlil over the course of 8-9 hours of trekking. Prior to returning to Marrakech. End of our Toubkal Trek (4 days).
